I had such fun writing the story about South Carolina-made food products in March. So when a freelance writer was assigned a story about bakeries in the Upstate, I went to my editor and requested that heretofore all food-related stories be given to me. Because let's be honest, if there's an industry I'm passionate about, it's food. So he forwarded me a link to a company and asked me to write a story about them. What, pray tell, was the company? Why, only the purveyor of the ONE FRIGGIN' FOOD PRODUCT I DON'T EAT: mayo. Duke Foods. Irony at its finest. It wasn't my favorite story to do, not only because it's mayo-based, but also because it was a little (a lot) dull. And the guy talked really fast and was frustrating to interview. I had more fun doing another story this month on advice from powerful women in each city, Greenville and Columbia. And it brings me to an important point. Ladies - because my readership is indeed mostly ladies - let's build one another up, okay? There's no reason and no benefit for tearing each other down. So let's just stop harassing one another, mmmkay? The world is hard enough. But anyway, that's what I've been working on lately. Enjoy! xoxo, E
